After all, while there are many fans who hoped, like Graves, that the character had been Obi-Wan's granddaughter, there are other Star Wars fans who were happy with Rey's Palpatine heritage, and others who wish The Last Jedi's assertion that Rey was a nobody had stayed true through The Rise of Skywalker. Many of those same fans have since argued that Rey being a Kenobi would have been a better creative choice, as it might have required less explanation than The Rise of Skywalker's Palpatine reveal. In fact, many of the fans who theorized Rey was secretly related to the Obi-Wan character prior to the Palpatine reveal in Rise of Skywalker, pointed to the romantic relationship between Obi-Wan and Satine in Clone Wars as a way of explaining Rey's possible connection to the legendary Jedi. Graves isn't the only Star Wars fan who has admitted to wishing Rey had been a Kenobi instead of a Palpatine. The actress admitted that she always hoped Satine and Obi-Wan - who had a strong relationship in Clone Wars - had secretly had a child together, which would have opened up the possibility for Rey to be a Kenobi years later. Anna Graves, who voiced Duchess Satine Kryze in The Clone Wars, revealed on Twitter this week that she also would have loved for Rey to be Obi-Wan's granddaughter. Now, a Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actress has added her own opinion to the discussion surrounding Rey's lineage. The decision, much like Rian Johnson's attempt to make her a "nobody" in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, proved to be divisive in the Star Wars fan community, as many were let down by The Rise of Skywalker's handling of Rey's lineage. ![]() Instead, it was revealed in 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that Rey was actually the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, not Obi-Wan. However, the Rey Kenobi theories ended up being incorrect.
